Pretty nice to test these both. I'm totally fine with 1st step throw everything through Topaz and edit next day. But,, ah 9:40, yeah it changes color. Sometimes pretty much. I think I'll start using Neat Video again more. Neat Video as a plugin in Adobe does make my software crash now and then. With Topaz less so. But sometimes Topaz leaves temporary files which in Windows can be difficult to delete. I believe they are fixing this issue. Topaz community is nice and active.

I go for 1/100th for greenscreen because motion blur makes a big difference imo there. Maybe too if you're planning to rotoscope. BTW, risky shirt for compression with that red, blue/grey mix!

This topic drives me crazy. :D I use an A7R III and there is a very strange behaviour. If I shoot RAW images, I can use WB temperatures only, colours are accurate. As soon as I capture either JPG or MP4 (so having the camera interpret the image on its own), the camera starts to shift the tint towards magenta. Coming to Sony, I always heard people complain about green tint but somehow my former A7 II managed this a lot better then 3rd generation bodies (both the regular 7 and 7R series Mk III).

These measurements are without reflectors or any modification? I'm still suspicious of those referring to LED's in watts....it means literally nothing, apart from how many watts it's pulling from your outlet.

UA 476P with vintage and comp circuit on introduced some phase-y sounds as well. Can't quite say "phase discrepancies" as it appears you are only using a single microphone source.

Hi I have phantom luts in my fx30 it looks great on camera but if I use it with a monitor(portkeys) it looks very dark. What would you like to suggest to me .

this technique is exactly what i do with my talking head podcasts! the only difference is that instead of copy and pasting, i do an infinite loop: minute 1 forwards, minute 2 backwards, minute 3 forwards, minute 4 backwards, etc... so each odd-numbered minute is the 1min clip at +100% speed, and each even-numbered minute is the 1min clip at -100% speed, thereby creating the illusion that it is not copy and pasted footage, but a section that is repeating continuously!

tha samayng is bugged as fu*k for manual/af in video, just sad thing I'm sending back to amazon ( wet it work is great)

Can you not fix the high contrast in post when overexposed? Or do you loose something when doing so? My thoughts: In a run and gun situation exposing slightly bellow clipping point might save tons of noisy image and prevent reaching noisy floor, especially indoors without control over the light

Just switched from my long time and trusted hd650’s and tested the NDH 30 along with the 490 pro. Both sets are good step up from my hd650 imo, but I gave the edge to 490 with slightly better sound stage and bass extension. It came with DearVR mix too and have to agree that the rooms are excellent. More convincing than the SoundID. I found the eq correction quite similar for the 490 in both softwares. Haven’t tried the 650 with DearVr but will have a listen to see if it is brighter as you say. So glad I didn’t bother with VSX though. Great video 👍

I've got Sonarworks (with calibrated headphones) feeding into dSONIQ Realphones. I wonder whether something similar could be done feeding Sonarworks into DearVR MIX...

I've adopted a two plugin solution for this, and IMO it works really well. For the headphone calibration, there is the highly underrated ToneBoosters Morphit - for 29EUR it has a huge range of headphone models, you can choose what target curve to correct to, and you can simulate other headphone models. And you can demo it for basically as long as you need with full functionality. I highly recommend checking this out. I then follow that with dearVR Monitor. I've also tried Hornet VHS, and it's not as good as either of those two at either calibration or room emulation.

Great video. I love my VSX headphones now, but it took about 2 months of on and off listening to get used to them. I actually mix with the VSX and then reference on my monitors so I do it kinda opposite. These are the best portable headphones for travel. Although my favorite headphones are the Neumann NDH30s I'd rather take the VSX when I'm mobile.

I have used a SSL2+ for the last few years but will be replacing it with a SSL 12 when it arrives tomorrow. Your review of the SSL 12 helped me make that decision, and this comparison with the 476P only confirmed the decision. But did you notice how In this video, as soon as you switch on the 4K button, there was a definite increase in background noise, a hum. I never noticed that on my 2+. Makes me wonder......

Thanks very much - extremely helpful. Just returning to video and learning how to use the a6700. Agree that the exposure meter does not appear very helpful and that is why I wanted to learn how to use zebras. With the zebras turned on, it will be so much easier to adjust the exposure with a variable ND and just adjust to eliminate all but the specular highlights. The information regarding the correct zebra setting for the S-Cinetone profile was incredibly helpful. Thanks again.

I recently purchased a dinged up and probably 5-7 years old MKE600 with a missing low cut filter button. Seems to be working okay but not sure. Do you know what would be the cheapest way to get it fixed? Still waiting for a response from Sennheiser.

Are these standard LUTs that can be used in Premiere Pro or other tools? For the sake of completeness, could you explain the difference, and pro/con, of using these LUTs to visually adjust versus using canonical scopes and other tools that are analytical and not based on needing a calibrated monitor? Is this an artistic tool (aka "color grading") versus the analytical tools (aka "color correction") or a bit of both?

Note to myself: Sharp image is no good anymore. Time to sell my super-expensive glass, and substitute it with lenses purchased with bag of chips in convenience store . Go figure...

These LUTS are very useful! I find it very difficult to expose skin hues and this will be a lifesaver.

I couldn't help noticing that the white in Harv's beard was as blue as his shirt… I mean, that's a hue, right?
